Paul Rand was one of the biggest icons in graphic design. Rand, born as Peretz Rosenbaum on August 15, 1914, is best known for his innovative corporate logos which helped shape not able to many important companies. Liberty Conservatives


Like many graphic designers Paul Rand started off with minor, less interesting tasks such as creating stock images which were getting used in American magazines and newspapers. Through hard, often non-paid, work outside his regular job, He quickly started to gain an enormous, interesting portfolio plus some fame within the designer community.

Rand created his first logo to have an enormous multinational company in 1956. At 42 yrs . old he come up with IBM logo which he would update in 1962 for the IBM logo we know (with minor twitches down the road) today.

In 1961 and 1962 Rand also come up with logos for the delivery service UPS and the broadcasting network ABC. Although these logos have been updated through the entire decades that followed, all of them have kept pretty much towards the original concept that Paul Rand had envisioned.

An alternative story than the ones above will be the logo for the Yale Press. He come up with logo for the Yale University Press -- part of Yale University -- in 1985. However only recently in '09, the idiosyncratic design has been replaced by the primary Yale type. This off track has led to much controversy as Paul Rand is recognized as this kind of large icon in graphics.
